To offer each guest the ultimate convenience and excitement on the track, we reviewed the operations of similar facilities all over the world. Our Circuit is the ultimate test track to develop skills and car control. Every member at our driving facility will have the opportunity to hone their skills with each drive or simply take a coaching session with our team of instructors. When we assembled the team at the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit, we had very precise goals for their abilities. We are proud to present the following individuals, hired with one goal in mind: to serve you and to make your time at the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit special and filled with excitement and passion for driving.

Operations Manager

Brent Evans

My interest in motorsports started at an early age when our mother took us to the Saturday night races at Western Speedway here in Victoria. Throughout my school years, I was a fanatic follower of all types of motor racing. This led me to become more involved as a driver, starting with autocross then taking my competitive driver training at the famed Westwood Motorsport Park where I competed in endurance and sprint races.  I’m glad to say that today I still remain active as a driver, competing at Mission Raceway in Vancouver.

It has now been almost 20 years that I have been employed in the automotive industry, matching my passion to my career. I’m very proud of my accomplishments and my employment for the last seven years with the GAIN Dealer Group. Over the last three years, I have also been involved with our Performance Driving Program as a Driving Instructor and for the last two years as Lead Instructor. To be associated with a world-class dealer group and invited to participate in the operation of the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit is truly a remarkable opportunity and a childhood dream come true. I look forward to continuing with driver instruction training duties as well as managing track operations. We are extremely proud to be opening this world-class facility; it will be our goal to provide you with a year-round driving experience right here on Vancouver Island that will rival the finest motorsport resort destinations in the world.

Driving Coach

Tyson Kral

Tyson is very passionate about motorsport as he started driving when he was 16 years old. After spending two years with the SASS school race team, Tyson decided to continue his driving career as a Drift Car Pilot. Since 2008, Tyson has competed in several events in Canada and the US. Over the years, he has gathered many skills and great knowledge from some of the best drift car drivers in the world. Drifting has become extremely popular and car control, driving dynamics as well as a good understanding of grip levels and tire wear are extremely important in this sport. Tyson’s driving capabilities and skills will make him the perfect coach to members and groups on the driving dynamic area as well as the road course to coach you on how to you get the maximum performance out of your car and tires.

Driving Coach

Shane Routhier

Born and raised in Vancouver, Shane moved to Las Vegas in 1999 where he worked at the new Las Vegas Motor Speedway. During his tenure at the Speedway, Shane worked as an instructor for Shelby American, Derek Daly and Exotic Racing. As Shane is also passionate about racing himself he drove in the Skip Barber Racing series, the Bridgestone Racing series, and The Pro-Formance Racing series. Shane’s 7 years of experience at the Las Vegas Speedway and his facilitation of countless driving events made Shane a perfect candidate as one of the instructors at the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit. Shane is trained to facilitate the driving events for a group or train drivers on a one on one basis.

Track Support

Lee Harvey

Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, I have had the privilege of living in beautiful Shawnigan Lake since early 2016. Before then, I lived in Southern California for just over three years, living the SoCal life and building my ultimate dream car. Upon hearing that the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit was under construction, I kept a close eye on the build progress. There are many motorsport facilities in SoCal, but there is no track that comes close to the polished and technical design of the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit and its Clubhouse. Coming back to Canada to work at the Circuit from its opening day was an amazing opportunity that I couldn’t refuse. This incredible venue brought me back to Canada to live in one of the most beautiful areas in the world. I am truly honoured to be working for such a professional establishment and to continually learn and grow with our amazing team here at the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit. I look forward to assisting all of our members and guests who choose the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit as their place to play and relax with like-minded individuals with a passion for motorsports.

Reception & Paramedic

Char Smith

Originally from the United Kingdom, I am very privileged to now live in the beautiful Cowichan Valley. When she moved to Canada, she was able to settle in Calgary before she moved for her studies to New York before returning to Vancouver and now the Cowichan Valley.  Char compliments our Circuit team very well due to her past experience as an executive assistant, hotel concierge and most recently, a legal assistant to the British Columbia Ambulance and Paramedic Service.

As the Circuit Conceirge, her role will be to host each and every client regardless if they are members or corporate clients with the same level of excellent service.  Char will work closely with our Circuit membership sales team and our Operations Manager.  However, her main focus is to make every guest’s experience the best it can be.
