Holding Out Hope | Audi RS 5 Avant PHEV
For those who still appreciate a proper performance wagon, the newly unveiled 2027 Audi RS 5 Avant stands out as a rare offering. While much of the market leans toward SUVs, Audi keeps things refreshingly simple with a comparatively lower and better balanced wagon built for the pleasure of driving.
The RS 5 Avant delivers a strong mix of performance and practicality, offering the kind of versatility that makes it just as comfortable on a road trip as it is on a back road. It is a reminder that you do not need added height to get both utility and engagement. Under the hood is a new iteration of Audi’s 2.9L twin-turbo V6 producing 503 horsepower. Significantly, the engine is now paired with a plug-in hybrid system and its combined output of 630 horsepower is sent through an eight-speed automatic and quattro all-wheel drive system. It is capable of 0–100 km/h in about 3.5-seconds, or up to 80 km of electric-only when not pushing off the line.
Thus far, availability of the new RS 5 PHEV Avant and Sedan are confirmed for European markets with orders opening soon. We eagerly await to hear of any confirmation for the North American markets.
