Precision on Track: Updated Brake Markers and Refreshed Circuit Lines
New Brake References and Fresh Track Lines Enhance Driver Consistency at the Circuit
Taking inspiration from the classic Five Man Electrical Band lyric, “Sign, sign, everywhere a sign,” we’ve introduced new brake reference signs here at the Circuit — adding another layer of consistency and clarity for drivers during open lapping.
While they may not have the same flair as the foam Pirelli boards seen trackside at Formula 1 venues, they serve an essential purpose here at Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit. At speed, reliable visual references are everything — helping drivers identify braking points, turn-in locations, and brake release zones with greater confidence and precision.
Just as importantly, these new signs are built to stay put. Unlike temporary markers that can shift or blow over, these references remain consistent from lap to lap and event to event, providing a dependable framework for developing pace and refining technique.
In addition, the circuit has now had track lines freshly painted, further enhancing visibility and providing even more consistency around the circuit for drivers at all levels.
We’ve already had several open lapping sessions with the new signage in place, and feedback has been very positive. As always, it’s worth remembering: these are references, not rules — there to support your driving, not define it.
