A Modern Air-Cooled Masterpiece: The Gunther Werks F-26
The Ultimate Evolution of the Air-Cooled 911
Gunther Werks has built a reputation for reimagining the legendary air-cooled Porsche 993, but their latest creation may be their most ambitious yet. Introducing the F-26 — an ultra-exclusive, twin-turbocharged masterpiece limited to just 26 examples worldwide.
Drawing inspiration from the iconic Porsche 930 slantnose, the F-26 combines unmistakable retro design cues with cutting-edge engineering and aerodynamics. Nearly every component of the car is crafted from in-house carbon fibre, helping achieve a remarkably light curb weight of just 2,750 lbs. From the aggressive bodywork and race-inspired rear wing to the bespoke analog gauges and carbon fibre steering wheel, every detail has been meticulously considered.
At the heart of the F-26 is a truly extraordinary powerplant. Co-developed with Rothsport Racing, the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged Mezger flat-six delivers an astonishing 1,067 horsepower and 750 lb-ft of torque — all sent to the rear wheels through a reinforced 6-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. Despite its staggering performance figures, the F-26 remains focused on delivering an engaging, analog driving experience rarely found in today’s automotive world.
Blending the soul of a classic air-cooled 911 with the performance capabilities of a modern hypercar, the Gunther Werks F-26 is a remarkable tribute to driving enthusiasts who still value connection behind the wheel.
