From April Fools to the Nordschleife | BMW M3 Touring 24H
What started as an April Fools joke has come full circle. In 2025, BMW teased the idea of a race-prepped M3 Touring – sparking excitement across the global enthusiast community before the date gave it away. But the immediate and passionate response at-large it did not go unnoticed by BMW M.
Fast forward to this season, and BMW delivered. Blending elements of the M3 Touring with its M4 GT3 program, the result is a purpose-built machine that brings long-roof performance into a space few expected to see it. Under the hood sits a race-derived 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline-six producing just under 600 horsepower, paired with aggressive aero leaving no doubt about its intent.
Visually, it is as striking as it is unconventional. The extended silhouette, combined with a full race aero package, makes a bold statement – and the livery itself is an explicit nod to the fans who called for it in the first place, incorporating real reactions from last year’s reveal.
The M3 Touring 24H will appear at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in mid-May 2026, running in the SPX class – reserved for unique, non-homologated entries. While it is not meant to compete for the outright victory, it has already achieved something arguably more meaningful: capturing the attention of enthusiasts around the world, and proving that sometimes the best ideas come from listening to the fans.
