As you read in our previous post, our first major event has been booked and we are excited to announce and welcome Audi Canada this spring, for the Canadian introduction of the all-new 2017 Audi R8.
Dealers, managers, VIP clients and journalists from across the country will be guests at the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit, and we can’t wait to see over 15 Audi R8’s on the Circuit to mark the first series of fast laps.
A presentation was made last week to all the brand manufacturers represented by the GAIN Dealer Group on Vancouver Island and AWIN, our sister group in the greater Toronto area. The excitement was incredible, and every brand representative introduced to the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit could visualize the difference between our Circuit to any other facility in Canada, especially between the months of October and May. It was nice to be able to show our construction teams on site and hard at work with an average temperature of 12 degrees outside, while presenting in Toronto with an average temperature of -27 degrees outside.
When you combine the mild climate of Vancouver Island, the reputation and safety requirements built into each and every part of a Tilke designed track, to the focus and determination of the GAIN Dealer Group, you’ll quickly discover that there isn’t anywhere else quite like our facility in North America.
On the construction side of things, Island Flooring and their team of installers have progressed in setting down the beautiful, high gloss 2×2 tiles in the upper floor of the Clubhouse. The color combination of the bright walls with the open deck ceilings match the light grey tiles perfectly. The outside observation deck insulation is in place and also ready for tiling in the coming weeks.
The painters have completed the upstairs walls and will move downstairs to complete the Pit Garages, the Presentation Centre and both the locker rooms and washroom facilities.
The kitchen services and connections are in the walls and in the floors and Van Isle Kitchen Equipment has ordered the complete kitchen while Crest Sheet metal is working on the stainless steel and aluminum tables and shelving. Andrea Hudson, the owner and operator of the Paddock Clubhouse Restaurant is starting to build the team plans and we will soon start to announce the positions available in both front of house and back of house. If you or something you know who would be interested in a career at this new and exciting facility, please send a resume to our HR department at hr@gain-vi.ca and we will be in touch as soon as we’re ready to hire.
As you can see, last weeks’ installation of the concrete working lane has been completed and what a difference that has made. The pit wall concrete base is in place as is the divider to the parking lot.
There is so much more, but that’s enough about the construction for now. Soon we will start announcing details of the grand opening, as we all prepare for the celebration of Canada’s Motorsport Country Club.
As always, a big and sincere thank you to everyone involved in the construction, planning and execution of the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit. A huge thank you also to Russ Heinl, our Circuit photographer for your amazing work, your incredible attention to detail and your incredible eye for capturing the entire progression of the construction. We are grateful for all your efforts and hard work. Until next week.
