With summer gently giving way to autumn on the West Coast, progress on the Vancouver Island Motorsport Resort (VIMOR) continues to advance at an impressive pace.
Over the next few weeks the circuit will take on its permanent appearance. Tilke Engineering’s design requires that the grading and leveling is referenced at least every metre and compared to the design drawings. While time consuming, this attention to detail will result in a perfect track surface.
Preliminary grading is nearing completion, and track surface is scheduled to receive its first layer of asphalt on October 26, 2015.
“It’s now easy to see all of the elevations on the track now that the surface is smooth” says Chris Erb of SupErb Construction. The overall circuit can now be clearly seen, and the challenges of the individual corners and chicanes can be appreciated.
